​Main fields of application.

​Zn70 and Zn67 are used in scientific fields such as studying food environments. Zn68 is used in important radiopharmaceutical procedural studies of the gallium Ga67 isotope. Placed in a cyclotron, Zn68 is activated into Ga67, which is used to detect infection foci in infected soft tissues in patients with Hotchkiss detectors, osteomyelitis and granulomatous diseases. Zn66 is used as a starting material for the production of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostics and therapy.Of particular interest is zinc depleted in the Zn64 isotope, which is used as an additive in cooling systems for nuclear reactors. The addition of zinc reduces the amount of radioactive Co60 formed as a result of irradiation by the neutron flux of natural cobalt, which in turn is contained in the structural materials of the equipment. The presence of Co60 leads to the accumulation of radioactive radiation in cooling systems, and therefore leads to an increase in the dose rate received by personnel. If natural zinc is introduced, and the natural isotopic mixture contains 48.6% Zn64, then under irradiation by a neutron flux, Zn64 forms radioactive Zn65, which only increases the dose rate. If the Zn64 isotopes are removed from the natural mixture, it is possible to significantly reduce the dose load on repair personnel, reduce the amount of radioactive waste, and increase the service life of the reactor.
